A little about me...

I wanted to take the time today to tell everyone a little bit more about me as a photographer. I have been photographing as a hobby for over 5 years. Up until about 2-3 years ago, I was using auto mode on my camera and not doing anything to improve my photos other that simple editing. Fast forward right before my daughter was born and something with photography just clicked for me. I am really not sure what but I started to grow this deep desire and passion for learning more and more about photography.  With this passion grew a need to find resources to learn. I have found some of the most amazing places to learn from for free. Free was a big deal when I first started because lets face facts, I was making no money yet as a photographer. There are three places that are my Go-To resources for learning, venting, expressing, connecting.

The first is Google+, G+ has a great community of photographers who are willing to help anyone, don't get me wrong their are some who wont but most are willing. I am so grateful to all of the photographers on G+ who have helped me whether it was by critiquing my photos, giving me tips or just words of encouragement. One of these photographers is  Colby Brown, he has been a great inspiration for me. He is an amazing photographer. Last year, he opened up a contest to be featured in his book and on the website for the book. You had to write about what G+ embodies for photographer in your opinion and post a link to some of your work. Somehow out of all of the entries he had, I made it to the Top 40. He chose 4 people for the book and about 40ish for the website. To me this meant the world. I had entered on a whim with no expectations. This pushed me even harder to make my photography better and everyday I remind myself of this so that I can push myself to be better.
CreativeLive is the second. CreativeLive is a wonderful resources for workshops as well as communicating with other photographers. I have taken workshops from Christa Meola, Sandy Puc & Bambi Cantrell.  They offer so many different types of workshops and provide such an upbeat environment. Just watching it you feel like you are right there in Seattle.

Last but certainly not least is Go {4} Pro. This site is so inspirational. They offer so much from freebies to looks in to other photographers studios to tips and tricks. All around it is a wonderful site. I love just reading other photographers stories and learning more about how they run their studio or how they use their props. It is so helpful. You can never stop growing and learning in anything you do and this site offers a different view into all different angles of photography. The products that they offer on their site are amazing as well. Stop by their site and enter their giveaway! I will be hosting one here on the blog next week!

I hope this helps you guys to learn a little bit more about me as a photographer and what it took for me to get to where I am. I am always looking to learn and grow as a person and as a photographer.
