What photographs mean...

I know that there is always a lot of talk about why photographers charge what they do and why we are so sensitive when people "change" photographs that we have taken and edited. I want to explain why this is. Many people say it is because we are business owners and we have to pay taxes and blah blah blah.... All of this is true but put all of the money and legal things aside and you see the real reasons. Photographs are special. These are not just some piece of paper. Photographs are memories. As photographers, we know just how special they are. We want to preserve those memories for years to come. We want you to have these photographs to look back on when they are all you have left of someone.

For me , photographs are extremely precious. My father died suddenly when I was 9 years old. All I have to remember him by are photographs. All my daughters has is photographs. This is the only way to keep his memory alive and for my daughter to know who her grandfather was. Sometimes we don't realize how special things are until what you have is gone.

I know that this may seem like some sappy story but I want you to see that what we as photographers do, is capture memories that could be gone tomorrow. We are preserving that memory so that you don't lose it. That happy family sitting on a bench laughing, may just seem like that but what if that image becomes all that is left of that happy family. It turns into something so much more special. It is a heirloom... a memento of a time in your life.

Hold your family close and capture as many memories as you can. We only have today, we are not promised tomorrow.
